Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)

CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects. Go to https://www.fema.gov/community-emergency-response-teams for more information on CERT programs.

If you would like to learn the skills necessary to be a useful CERT volunteer and team member, call the Prince George County Department of Emergency Management at 804-722-8614, and ask to be added to the list for notification of the next CERT course, which will start September 12th 2019 and end November 7th, 2019 . The course is 8 weeks long, on Thursday evenings, from 6-9 pm, and will be held at the Oakland Baptist Church meeting room.

Please join the Prince George County CERT team volunteers, and learn how to help in a disaster situation!
