(Prince George, VA) – Nighttime Burglar Arrested After Entering Same Home Twice in One Night

On November 7, 2017 at approximately 3:15 AM, the Prince George County Police Department received a call of a possible burglary in progress in the 3300 block of Millpond Rd. Upon their arrival, officers observed the suspect fleeing into the woods on foot, but were unable to locate after searching the area.  Later this morning, police responded back to the area for a suspicious male. Officers identified the individual as Carlos Jewell Anthony Baker, age 26, of Petersburg.  Based off evidence recovered earlier, and a statement provided, Baker was arrested in connection with the burglary.

A check of a bank card transaction revealed that Baker had used the victim’s card earlier in the night and had returned back to the scene of the crime.  Police are unsure as to why the suspect returned to the home he had burglarized earlier.  Police also linked Baker to another nighttime burglary that occurred one night earlier in the 12000 block of Halcyon Way.  The resident in that case, awoke in the early morning hours and discovered items missing from the home and a doorway was left open.

Currently, Baker has been charged with two counts of burglary in the nighttime, two counts of credit card theft, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.
