Authorities say pick-up and at least one other car were fired upon Thursday night near I-95 and Route 301; unclear if gunshot victim at SRMC is connected
PRINCE GEORGE — State police are looking for anyone who may have information about vehicles hit by gunfire near the U.S. Route 301 exit to Interstate 95.
State Police Sgt. Keeli Hill said authorities were notified of a man who arrived at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg suffering from a gunshot wound that was determined to have happened in the county. Further investigation led police to the vicinity of the Route 301 onramp to northbound I-95, where Hill said at least two vehicles were reportedly struck by bullets. One of them was a pick-up truck that had windows broken and tires flattened.
The driver of the truck was not hit by the gunfire, Hill said. She added that investigators have not officially linked the shooting victim at SRMC to the scene near the onramp.
The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the probe, with assistance from Prince George Police.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is being asked to call state police at (804) 553-3445 or email email@example.com. Information can be provided anonymously.
