Below is a sample of  projects completed by the Information Technology Department and the benefits those projects provided to the citizens of Prince George:

Tyler Munis Financial System

Since 2011 the IT Department has been working with the Finance Department, Human Resources, Commissioner of the Revenue's Office, Treasurer's Office, Real Estate Assessor's Office, School Board Finance Department and various department head's to implement a new financial system for the County.  This system is responsible for managing the County's budget and collecting revenue.  IT Staff work with the departments on their procedures and try to streamline them to make them more efficient.  When the system is fully implemented in 2015 citizens will have an option to pay their bills online.

Technology Improvements in County Buildings

The Department is responsible to maintaining the network infrastructure the County uses for all of its computer systems and programs.  Staff maintain all of the equipment that networks all County computers and the circuits that provide Internet access.  More and more training in the County is being done online which cuts down on costs of traveling to offsite training.

In 2013 the Department started implementing WiFi on the County complex to make it easier for people to have Internet access for meetings.  In 2014 that access was expanded to the Human Services Building, Police Department, and Emergency Operations Center/Emergency Communications Center.  WiFi improvements are also planned for the Courthouse and Community Center in the near future.
