If you receive TANF, you may be required to participate in the Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare (VIEW) program, or you may volunteer to participate. Unless exempt, you and any other adult for whom you are applying will be required to participate in VIEW. Failure to participate may cause everyone in your household to be ineligible.
Full-time employment for participants is the goal of VIEW.
VIEW may provide the following services:
- Job skills training
- On-the-job training
- Work experience
- Job readiness training
- Other local employment and training programs
- Help with child care, transportation, and work-related expenses while the person is participating in the VIEW program.
- Help with child care and transportation for up to 12 months after the VIEW participation ends
- An incentive payment of $50 per month for up to 12 months for people who were participating in VIEW and were working at least 30 hours per week when the TANF case closed
