Youth Public Safety Academy

June 19- June 30, 2017

 

Experience two weeks of hands on activities and exercises that will expose our youth to the world of Public Safety promoting team building, volunteerism, and leadership. We put the fun in learning while challenging them both physically and mentally! They will enjoy a “Behind The Scenes” for an inside look at fire and police services.

Prince George YPSA is a two week-long camp designed to expose our young citizens to role models in public safety – namely their local police, fire, emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, as well as to teach them valuable life and safety lessons.

Lunch and academy t-shirts are provided to all students at no charge thanks to our generous sponsors and runs from 8:00am-5:00pm, daily.  The academy is limited to twenty five students in each class, with a minimum of 10 students for the class to run.

Applications:

Paper applications are due by June 1, 2017    Applicants will be notified of status by June 6, 2017.

Learn what emergency personnel do!

Experience what being Firefighter & Police Officer is like in Prince George County. As a student, you will learn all aspects of police, fire and emergency medical services while participating in discussions and hands on exercises.

Why attend and how?

You will gain understanding of fire and emergency medical services in your community, while getting an opportunity to explore possible career choices. If you would like to be a Fire Cadet or Police Explorer, this is a great opportunity to get your feet wet! 

To apply:

Complete the application (click here for application) and get required recommendation letter by a staff member at your current school, you will receive notification to attend registration once selected.

Requirements:

  • Interest in Public Safety (Fire or EMS)
  • Commitment to successfully complete the academy.
  • Prince George County students, rising 9th Thru 12th grade
  • One written reference letter from a staff member at the applicant’s current school
