National Touring Production of Aesop’s Fables and Heroes of the Underground Railroad to Perform Locally

Hopewell, VA, 02-27-2018 - Bright Star Touring Theatre, a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC is visiting the area with two of their acclaimed shows. Aesop’s Fables is a 45-minute whirlwind adventure through the beloved 2600-year old tales. Bright Star’s professional actors bring to life the stories of “The Tortoise and the Hare,” “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” and other stories in a production brimming with audience participation. The program will be staged on Saturday, March 10, at 1 p.m. at the Prince George Library, 6605 Courts Drive, Prince George, and again on Sunday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at the Historic Dinwiddie Courthouse, 14101 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie.

Bright Star Theatre professionals will also be staging Heroes of the Underground Railroad, an inspiring exploration of the lives and work of notable Abolitionists and slaves from America’s Underground Railroad. The show provides a fundamental historical context of the time period while recreating the lives and work of Harriet Tubman, Levi Coffin, Henry “Box” Brown, and Frederick Douglas. This show will be performed at the Hopewell Library on Saturday, March 10, at 3 p.m.

The performances are made possible through the sponsorship of the Friends of the Library, Dinwiddie and the Hopewell/Prince George Friends of the Library and are free and open to all.
