About Opioids
Opioids are a class of strong painkillers that include oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, morphine and heroin. These drugs have a high risk of addiction and, in large doses, can cause respiratory failure and death. Addiction has resulted from both prescription and non-prescription use. The number of opioid related deaths has grown to epic proportions inspiring government leaders to declare a public health emergency to deal with the crisis.
