The Board of Supervisors has declared today, May 30, 2017, as 'Jerry Skalsky Day' in Prince George County.
Mr. Skalsky died suddenly on May 24 and will be buried at his family farm this afternoon after a private memorial service at Monumental Church in Petersburg. A public service was held Monday at Prince George High School.
Mr. Skalsky served 17.4 years on the Board of Supervisors, first being elected in November, 1999. He was a former chairman and vice chairman and served on numerous boards & commissions.
He was remembered Monday by friends & relatives as a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather & public servant. His tireless efforts made people's lives better and his death is a tremendous loss to all sectors of the Prince George County community.
On Mr. Skalsky's day, please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. His Government Family will also miss him in a major way for the job he did in advancing our government.
