(Prince George, VA) -- Fire and EMS Drone Helps Police Locate Missing Boy.

At approximately 10 am on March 16, 2017, Prince George Police Department requested Fire and EMS to respond to the 6400 Block of County Drive with their newly implemented small Unmanned Aerial System, also known as a drone, to assist with the search of an 11 year old boy that had been missing since approximately 6:40 am that morning.  Fire and EMS sUAS program coordinator - Captain Jason Coker and Director Brad Owens met with Police Captain Eric Young and Lieutenant Sean Moore to establish a unified command system and an incident action plan.  During the briefing with the personnel on scene, the juvenile was spotted running in the woods by a family member.  Police units began a foot search and the Fire and EMS sUAS was deployed at 10:37 am.  At 10:44 am the juvenile was located and returned to his residence.  Medics on standby checked the 11 year old and released him to his parents.
