HOPEWELL, Va. -- The bright lights of Hollywood will shine once again on Virginia, during an exclusive screening of the film Imperium, which was filmed in Hopewell and the surrounding area last fall.

Director and co-writer Daniel Ragussis and actors Sam Trammell (True Blood, The Fault In Our Stars), Nestor Carbonell (Lost, The Dark Knight Rises), and Virginia native Devin Druid (Louder Than Bombs) are among the cast and crew members expected to be on hand for the special evening.

Co-writer Michael German, the real-life agent on whom the lead character of Imperium is based, will also be attending the screening.

The red carpet event will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, outside the Beacon Theatre.

More than 600 invited guests are expected to attend, including city and regional officials, representatives from the Virginia Film Office and more.

The plot revolves around Nate Foster (Daniel Radcliffe), a young, idealistic FBI agent who goes undercover to take down a radical right-wing terrorist group.

The bright up-and-coming analyst must confront the challenge of sticking to a new identity while maintaining his real principles as he navigates the dangerous underworld of white supremacy.

Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine, The Sixth Sense, United States of Tara), Tracy Letts (The Big Short, Homeland) and Burn Gorman (The Dark Knight Rises, Pacific Rim) also star in the 108-minute film.

“We could not be happier to welcome back our friend Daniel Ragussis and many members of the cast and crew of this remarkable film,” said Charles Dane, Hopewell assistant city manager. “We were so honored to be chosen as the location for this film, and so grateful to our partners at the Virginia Film Office for their support in making it happen. The project was enthusiastically embraced by our businesses and our citizens, many of whom served as extras for the film, and this will be a proud day for the city of Hopewell.”

Radcliffe is not expected to be at the event. The star was often photographed around Hopewell during filming. Radcliffe would pose for photos and sign autographs with fans after long days on set.
