HPG Chamber will host Update on Rt. 460 Improvement Project on December 13
Hopewell, VA -The Hopewell-Prince George Chamber is hosting a special informational update for members and their guests on the U.S. Route 460 Corridor Improvements Project. The meeting will take place at 2 p.m., December 13.
Jerry Clasey, retail support manager with ACE Hardware, is hosting the meeting at the ACE Hardware Corporation Training Room, 7000 Hardware Drive in the SouthPoint Business Park, Prince George, Virginia.
The U.S. Route 460 Corridor Improvements Project, which will stretch 55 miles from Petersburg to Suffolk, Virginia, is designed to be a four-lane, limited access highway with seven interchanges. It will be a toll road. Cars will pay $3.69 and trucks will pay $11.72. The project is expected to start in 2014 and be completed in 2018. The existing Rt. 460 will remain a toll-free alternative.
"Prince George County supports the 460 project," says County Administrator Percy Ashcraft. "We are anxious to work with VDOT and the contractor to further define the scope of the project in the coming months prior to the beginning of construction. We thank the Chamber for helping to raise the awareness of all of our businesses and citizens who will be affected by the project."
While the Chamber has taken no stand on the project, Derrick Johnson, manager of The Timmons Group Tri-Cities Office in Prince George and a member of the Chamber's board of directors says: "I think 460 is going to be a boom for economic development in the corridor and good for business as a whole with the construction of the new road."
The briefing will include a presentation, followed by a question and answer session. There is no charge to attend but an RSVP is required. To register, call 804-458-5536 or email email@example.com.
