Purpose of the Fraud Hotline

The possibility of fraud, waste and abuse is present in any organization.  The anonymous fraud hotline has been created to encourage County employees and County citizens to report situations where fraud, waste or abuse may have occurred in the local government.

The objective of the hotline is to identify situations where fraud, waste or abuse may have occurred in local government so that it may be eliminated.  If you observe a situation within your own department that appears to involve fraud, waste or abuse, please call the anonymous hotline.

Who operates the County Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline?

No one will be answering when you call the hotline.  It is manned by a voicemail system that is checked once a day by the Finance Director.  The Finance Director is the only person who will have the password to get into the voicemail.

Why should you call the County Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline?

The County strives to be the best place to live, learn, work, and raise a family.  As fraud, waste and abuse occur, those activities take away from the County fulfilling its vision.

When should you call the County Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline?

As soon as the employee or citizen learns of the possible fraud, waste, or abuse, it should be reported.  If the employee or citizen does not feel comfortable speaking with a Director of the County, this is an anonymous outlet that can be used to report concerns.

What happens when possible Fraud, Waste, or Abuse is reported?

The hotline is not manned by a live person, therefore able to be kept anonymous.  When the voicemail is ready to accept your message, give as many facts as possible.  The voicemail will be retrieved and reported to the appropriate parties for review.
