The Prince George County Board of Supervisors has created a Public Information Telephone Line for citizens to get information in an emergency event. This telephone number, (804) 733-2659, will be answered daily during business hours in an emergency event, such as a hurricane or snow storm. Citizens who call the line after hours will hear a recording of the latest information about where resources are located, when services are expected to resume, etc.
"The Public Information Number is one more step toward better communication with our residents," stated County Administrator Percy C. Ashcraft. "This information line is a direct result of Board Supervisor Bill Robertson wanting citizens to have the most up-to-date information during emergencies."
The number will have a recording that County offices are operating at normal levels when there is not an emergency. During an emergency event, the line will be answered and messages will be updated daily as conditions change.
"This is one more tool in the County’s toolbox for getting messages to our citizens," continued Ashcraft, "citizens can call the Public Information Number, visit our website, follow us on Facebook or Twitter, and see daily Press Releases posted at all of our Fire Stations and the Emergency Crew Building."
