Become an Officer of the Election/Working at the Polls
The Electoral Board appoints Officers of the Election for one year at a time and only registered voters may be appointed. Anyone interested in becoming an officer of the election should call the Registrar's Office at (804) 722-8748.
Voting Equipment
Prince George County currently uses the Accu-vote optical-scan voting tabulator. The voter marks paper ballots and the votes are scanned and calculated by the end of the day. As of January 2006, one handicap accessible touch screen is also available in each precinct. The Accu-vote is the primary source of voting. Any voter may request to use the touch screen, but handicapped voters have top priority.
The touch screen is a requirement of the Help America Vote Act and is to ensure any voter, regardless of handicap, can cast their vote independently.
