(Prince George, VA) – Prince George County Fire and EMS Reminds Citizens to Change Their Smoke Alarm Batteries This Weekend.

Prince George Fire and EMS wants to remind residents that when they fall back this weekend and change their clocks to take a few extra minutes to change the batteries in there smoke alarms and discuss their escape plan.

This seasonal change is a great time to test the batteries in those alarms. “Smoke alarms most often fail because of missing, dead or disconnected batteries but maintenance is simple an effective way to help protect you and your family,” says Brad Owens, Director of Prince George Fire and EMS.

This year marks historic tragedy relating to fires in our county, we have had two fire related fatalities and that’s two to many. Help increase your chances of survival by changing the batteries and testing your smoke alarms.

Prince George Fire and EMS also offers free home safety surveys that may point out hidden hazards that most homeowners do not know exist.
