Prince George County, Virginia, Parks and Recreation Department Hosts Open House on Saturday, November 17th, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Prince George County Parks and Recreation Department will host an Open House at its facility on Saturday, November 17th, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Department is now located at 11100 Old Stage Road in Prince George. The Open House is an opportunity for residents to tour the newly-renovated facility and meet the Parks and Recreation staff.
The Parks and Recreation Department is located in the former North Elementary School Addition that was built in the 1960's. Formerly, the building housed kindergarten through fifth grades. As the county grew and additional classrooms were required, a new Elementary School was constructed and students moved out of the building. Utilizing the former school building provides the County an opportunity to offer a wider range of recreational programming options for County citizens.
In 2012, the County began to develop a renovation plan that was designed to meet the current and future needs of Parks and Recreation. Following an assessment and funding by the Board of Supervisors, the renovation began in earnest. The building now includes space for an exercise room which will be available to residents for a minimal monthly fee.
