Annual Archaeology Weekend
Annual Archaeology Weekend, a collaboration between the Fort Lee Curation Facility and the Prince George County Regional Heritage Center is scheduled for October 20-21.
Saturday, October 20, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.: Join professional archaeologists and trained volunteers to help at a County dig site where an excavation is being done. Meet at the Center at 8:30a.m. Lunch will be provided. Children under twelve must be accompanied by a parent. Sign up through the Center: 863-0212 or PGHistory@aol.com. Sunday, October 21, 1:00p.m. to 4:00, Open House at the Archaeological Curation Facility at Fort Lee. Tour the facilities, its exhibits, and the artifacts that it stores. Representatives of the National Battlefield will be on hand as well as the staff of the Curation facility. Access to the Fort can be through any gate for this event. A rare chance to see the process after an artifact is recovered in the field. Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon. 1816 Shop Road, Fort Lee, 23801.
