Governor’s flag order for the for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Pursuant to the Code of Virginia, § 2.2-3310.1. Display of the POW/MIA flag, this is to order that, where possible, the POW/MIA flag that is normally displayed be flown on all public buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in respect and honor of all Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in appreciation for their selfless service and sacrifice.
Note that the US flag and POW/MIA flag shall be flown at full staff on Friday, September 21, 2012, on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia. However, the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia shall be flown at half-staff on Friday, September 21, 2012, on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia in respect and in memory of Virginia Supreme Court Justice Henry H. Whiting as per Flag Order on September 17, 2012.

I hereby order that the POW/MIA flag shall be flown at full staff at sunrise on Friday, September 21, 2012, and remain displayed until sunset.
