Fall Sports Tourism Kicks
Off This Weekend in PG
Sports tourism kicks off this weekend in Prince George County with a two-day baseball tournament honoring a deceased high school baseball coach, hosted by the Swamp Things Organization.
The Kevin Ferguson Memorial Scholarship Tournament will be held September 1-2. Games will begin daily around 9 a.m. at Prince George High School and Moore Middle School baseball fields.
The tournament honors Ferguson, who passed away in 2009 after a sudden illness. He served as coach of the junior varsity baseball team at the time of his passing.
This is the first tournament of the fall season and it gives Prince George County a chance to further showcase its investments in sports tourism. It is the first of five tournaments scheduled by organizers of the Swamp Things, who changed their names from the Braves Elite over the summer.
The Fall Tournament schedule is as follows:
September 1-2 – Kevin Ferguson Memorial Scholarship Tournament.
September 29-30 – Fall Odd Age Group State Tournament.
October 6-7 – Fall Even Age Group State Tournament.
November 3-4 – Fall Wood Bat Odd Age Group Tournament.
November 10-11 – Fall Wood Bat Even Age Group Tournament.
